In your quest thru hundreds of other therapists to find someone to help,  you may have noticed that often this page is used to highlight education, experience, and any other information they believe is relevant.  But you really don't care do you?  At least not at this moment.

I know that eventually you might want to know that I am qualified, so I will give a brief summary in a moment, but first I want to explain the kind of client I tend to have the most success in working with so that you can better determine whether or not I will be a good fit for you because ultimately, this is about you, not me.

The clients who are the most successful in therapy with me are ones who come ready to work, have reached a point where nothing they have tried has worked and want to explore other options because they understand that what they keep trying, keeps giving them the same results.  Results that they don't want.  They also know that there is no magical phrase that I can say that will make their problems disappear, they appreciate my straightforward, evidence-based and analytical approach, and love how I do not tip-toe around or judge their issues.

Many of my clients have been to a therapist before but were turned off by the way the therapist took a passive approach to therapy.  I am an active participant in your treatment so you’ll never see me taking long notes in a notebook as you share your story. Though I have been known to write the aspects of a discussion out on my white board so we can get a better look at what is going on.

I try to be the kind of therapist that I would want to see. I keep it real, firmly believing that what I do matters since I have seen it work (for my marriage as well) and that each and every one of my clients matters.

Experience

I have extensive experience in the education, health and wellness fields and bring to each session over 20+ years, starting as a 6th Grade Elementary teacher then moving into positions as a Patient Educator (Cleveland Clinic), Community Outreach Manager (York City Health Bureau), Health Coach and business executive (Provant Health) and a therapist (Bay Coast Behavioral).

I have worked in public, private and corporate settings spending more hours in meetings, in hotels, and on planes and the road then I would like to admit and I pull on these experiences as needed in each session, depending on my client's needs.

Beyond my two graduate studies programs, which were extremely rigorous and which I placed in the top of my class for both (over 10,000 hours of training), I continue to expand my knowledge of different therapeutic approaches and theories completing training in:

I am a board member for the Rhode Island Mental Health Counseling Association (RIMHCA), a member of the Integral Institute and the Association for Contextual

Behavioral Science.  I have been awarded with the Center's for Disease Control and Prevention's "Most Innovative Program of the Year Award" back in 2004.

For fun, I can be found spending time in my garden and swing dancing.
